What Is Pyruvate?
Pyruvate, a natural by-product of metabolism, is also found in certain foods, primarily fruits and vegetables. Pyruvate is generated in the human body when glucose (a six-carbon molecule) yields two molecules of pyruvate (a three carbon molecule), or more specifically, pyruvic acid.
